Flash forward many years and I've encountered several individuals that, without any effort at all, seem to be able to locate four leaf clovers. Lots of them. These people walk by some patch of grass and the four-leaf lucky charms seem to jump right out and get their attention. These little items fit nicely into a wallet and seem much easier to carry than a rabbit's foot.
I walked through a carpark one day and saw a shiny thing on the ground. It was some kind of charm someone had dropped. Adding it to my wallet, I decided it would bring me luck. Not long after that, I stopped to mail a package at a tiny post office in a village not far from where I live. The woman behind the counter asked if it would be alright to give me change all in coins. I told her it was, and was happy to see she had given me a couple of dollar coins. Unusual and something I hadn't seen in a very long time, I decided they must be some kind of lucky charms. The jingly kind of charm appeals more to me than the furry one.
Rabbit, Rabbit is made of needle felted Corriedale, with straight pins, and metal base.
Today's felt is a little reminder to keep an eye out for lucky charms that may show up for you in some interesting way or form.
What kinds of lucky charms do you have and how did you get them?
Interesting commentary on good luck charms Corinna. Rabbits foots were a popular thing back in the 70's. Perhaps the most interesting lucky charm I've come across was a penny that was likely left by a builder of my parents house. The house was built in 1946, and a 1946 penny was found heads down on a beam in the attic space above the garage a few years back by a person my mom hired to do some repairs. The penny face that had been down against the wood for decades was shiny new - other side tarnished. Have a good day. Your blog is great !

DeleteCorinna, are you familiar with the ritual of saying “rabbit, rabbit” out loud as your very first words upon waking on the first day of a month to ensure good luck for the duration of the month?

I have been saying "rabbit, rabbit," on first day of the month since I was in 7th grade. I wrote a post on it last year and was trying to find it this morning. Will run across it sometime here. YOu do this?? :) haha, great idea. Felted jelly beans!
